We’re all on the same page when I say the essence of this card is Buffy’s “I’m cookie dough” speech, right?
If not, I guess you can watch 7 seasons of that show until you get to that scene and this reference finally makes sense, which, as it turns out, is also the essence of this card.
But basically, Buffy explains baking as a metaphor for growing up, and growing into yourself.
It’s about waiting, becoming. The time period after you’ve put all the effort in and you’re letting the ripening/baking/waiting stage happen. The key is to let it do its thing in its own time. You’re not going to help if you get in there and try to push things along.
You can take care of other preparations in the meantime. Make space for whatever’s cooking. Get out a plate. It is happening, rest assured. And keep your body moving, that really helps the buzzing excitement from feeling like anxiety (at least it does for me).
.
This is exaaactly where I am today, don’t know about you. So many things in the works, and I was feeling really anxious. I sat with it, and it felt like it was coming from uncertainty, so I danced around like I was fronting Future Islands, and now I’m back to excitement.
Daily Tarot: 7 of Pentacles
You plant the seed, you tend the vine, and when the fruit appears, your job is to wait.
.
This is true for gardening but also for any other practice of creating in the material world. Right now, we've already put in the effort, and all the situation needs from us is time. Nothing you do to the fruit at this point will make it ripen faster.
.
The Motherpeace tarot has pretty much my favorite version of this card ever. (Plus it reminded me that I have a watermelon.) In other decks this is often an image of nearly-ripe fruit, but including a pregnant woman brings the meaning of this card back to the human bodily experience. Even if we're not female-bodied and even if we never experience pregnancy. We can't push ourselves to make changes that we're not ready for, even if we think we *should* do something faster, or if we're getting pressure from outside.
.
What we create changes us, too. We're never the same after we bring something big and important into the world. We can tune in with what life is like right now, mark it in our memory as the time before the change. What we have worked for is coming.
.
Personally, I find this card reassuring. I hope it helps, you too!

(I'm reading tarot at a baby shower this weekend, and this card makes me think of the lovely mama-to-be!)
Mind Body Spirit + Advice
Sometimes you don't have to know why something happens, you just have to trust that it's part of the process. Keep moving, keep working, it'll make sense in time.
Mind: The Fool
There is literally no impediment to taking big chances in your thoughts. None! So what are you waiting for? What seems too big to even dream about? What would you really, truly love to make happen, that you're still a little bit afraid of actually doing? Take your wildest dreams, and crank them up a billion percent. This leap in your mind will prepare you to make the leap in your life. Right now, you're invited to imagine and envision the end result.
Body: The Chariot
Move that body, feel at home in it. Keep it strong and healthy. But while you're doing all of this, remember that a body is also a one-way ticket. You're never going to be able to escape or reverse aging, no matter how many fancy creams you buy, or how many probiotics you eat. Can you love your body as it is right now, and as it's aging? Can you be really present in the daily processes of your body? Your body is your vessel, and it also IS you. Take some time to really be in your body and feel its potential. If you can run, run. If you can breathe, breathe.
Spirit: 3 of Swords
Everything that comes to you is a spiritual lesson. Even if it's a fight or heartbreak, or just getting your hackles up about the barista running out of change when you're already late for work. See if you can hold those daily grievances with love, rather than feeding them to the fire of an old trauma. For instance, when somebody talks over you, and that triggers feelings about your worth and your parents. Can you notice when that happens, and your response to it? These daily irritations scratch the surface so you can find the bigger underlying wounds, and start healing them.
Advice: 7 of Pentacles
This card has been coming up a lot over the past few months, for me and for others. Gotta do the work, put in the hours. Show up every day, do your best, check one more day off the calendar. You build mastery through consistency. You build consistency one day at a time. We are being asked to take all of the advice of the three previous cards, and put those actions into our day-to-day life. Imagination, grounding in our bodies, gentle self-healing. Take those threads and weave with them.
