This class will be a practical hands-on learning of simple somatic stress relief tools. Basically, ways to use the body to calm the mind. I’ll bring in tools I’ve learned (that help me and my clients) from traditions like self-hypnosis, neuro-linguistic programming, acupressure, energy healing, and mindfulness meditation. We’ll cover techniques that work as first aid, quick fixes that you use in the moment to quickly get out of a panic or stress reaction, as well as foundation-building techniques that help reduce the frequency and severity of stress and anxiety symptoms. And we’ll look at the science behind the techniques to understand how all of this works.
Please note - this is held in a gorgeous pilates studio but is not an exercise class where you’ll sweat!
These somatic tools are the kind of thing you can do at your desk or on the subway when you’re feeling stressed, anxious, angry, afraid. They’re the kind of thing you can do after a long day when you want to clear your mind so you can sleep. They’re things you can do to let your body care for your mind.
